Skara Brae & the Bay of Skaill
Skara Brae is a coastal Neolithic village within the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, west of Kirkwall near the Bay of Skaill. Visitor facilities and site access are managed with conservation in mind — opening patterns and ticketing can change, so confirm for your call date. Allow time for the path network and interpretation, not only the photo stop.
Ring of Brodgar
A great stone circle set on a narrow isthmus between two lochs. Paths can be exposed; weather on the west Mainland is often sharper than in Kirkwall. Coach bays fill on multi-ship days — early or mid-afternoon timing can ease crowding.
Standing Stones of Stenness
Fewer stones than Brodgar, but an atmospheric companion site a short hop away. Many guided days combine Stenness and Brodgar before or after Skara Brae depending on light, wind, and site operations.
Cruise-day advice
